Panormos CY Research Institute is a research center focuses on all aspects concerning the child and adolescents (psychosocial well being, health, academic performance, environment).
The participants of the center are coming mainly from Cyprus, but also prominent associates come from all over the world.
The main areas of the research studies that the P. CY Research Institute members have carried out are: children with special needs, adolescence, children from multicultural societies, trauma in children. One of the ongoing researches of the institute is:
“Children in Cyprus, living in Mountainous and semi-mountainous areas”
The study is the first of its kind in Cyprus (searching in the bibliography we didn’t find any of its kind elsewhere), founded by Cyprus Research Promotion Foundation (RPF).
The research, focuses on the positive and negative aspects of the psychosocial well being, health and academic performance of children living in highlands, semilands, distant and rural areas. The hypothesis of the research is that among the negative aspects of their residence effects could be the emergence of psychosocial problems or even health problems related to the distance or attitude as well as special social context that might be involved in a relevant way. The aim of the study is to identify these situations-conditions and \or problems, empower interdisciplinary cooperation and research, produce knowledge that regarding especially this field non-existent in Cyprus and improve methodology.
Questionnaires have been widely distributed at almost every free mountainous area of the island.
Exchanging Knowledge with other organizations and experiences in this area with other countries, is one of our research institute targets regarding the improvement of the living conditions in mountainous, rural and distant areas.
